#riskvsreward

When you hear the word RISK, what comes to mind? Does it excite you, motivate you OR make you want to crawl under your bed and hide? Taking a chance or risk can be a tough obstacle to overcome but you'll never experience personal or business growth if you don't step out of your comfort zone. Have you looked back and thought, "I wish I would have done this instead of that, trusted your "gut" feeling or been less cautious in the chances you took? Life is a series of calculated risks – nothing more, nothing less. Everything that you decide to do has a margin of error and risk. No outcome is ever 100 percent certain and therefore, any attempt at anything has a chance of complete failure. When you really think about it, we risk everything, every day of our lives without knowing it.

Why Hold Back?

Whether it's something small such as wearing something that's bright and bold vs your normal

black suit or sharing an idea with your boss that you believe could implement change company wide. You will never know the outcome unless you take the risk. What are you afraid of? What's the worst that can happen? Believe it or not, the benefits of taking risks will enrich your life and you will experience personal and professional growth.

How Can It Benefit Me?

Taking risks empowers you to establish new limits in your mind. We all have boundaries or a comfort zone where we’d like to stay and many have misconstrued visions of what we think we are capable of accomplishing, when you really have the ability to do anything you put your mind to. When you take risks, you can eradicate that thinking, establish new boundaries, improve your outlook on life and your ability to achieve on high levels.

Taking risks can bring tremendous opportunities, open even more doors as well as positive outcomes. You cannot plan out every step in life and you’ll never know if you can succeed unless you venture out into new territory. Is there a risk involved to do something totally new? Absolutely. But where there is a risk...there is often a reward.

Taking risks can help your creative mindset. When you put yourself out on a limb, with a no-excuse approach, your natural problem solving skills kick in and you’re open to new ideas and are willing to try something new. Being adaptive to your environment with the ability to find solutions to issues that arise is a wonderful and sought out characteristic.

Once you have become accustomed to this risk mindset, you break free from the average way of living and thinking. Instead of always staying in your "safe zone," you gain the momentum and confidence needed to establish new opportunities in your career, business and/or personal life. Risks build your self-confidence and empowers you to feel stronger and more confident in taking on new endeavors. When you are open to new challenges you position yourself to continually grow both personally and professionally.

There's no doubt it requires some trust in yourself. Nothing is really guaranteed, however, you have to trust your instincts. If you struggle with lack of self esteem or self confidence, there isn't a better way to start building confidence in yourself than by identifying a small "risk" and doing it. Sometimes your gut is leading you down an unknown path but deep inside you know that something bigger is waiting for you on the other side. If you never try, you’ll never know what all you can accomplish. I personally had no clue what I was capable of. Over the past few years due to some changes in my personal life, I have grown from someone with low self esteem and little confidence in myself to almost a completely different person. I have always had the same characteristics and those values never changed. I am still the same caring, honest, goal oriented, driven person I always have been but I didn't believe in myself. I didn't think my ideas or thoughts were anything of value and I couldn't make any decisions on my own. Even as simple as where to go out to dinner. Why do I share this information? I share it because I want you to know we're all at different areas in our lives at different times and have our own individual struggles. I have been there and can say setting small goals, consistently over time outside my comfort zone and accomplishing them have truly changed my life, self confidence and self worth. It's never easy to admit our faults or weaknesses but we all have them. If this helps just one of my blog followers then that is HUGE for me. I am grateful I have been able to change my mindset and take challenges head on, take risks, think outside the box, voice my opinions and solutions without fear or hesitation, understand my own self worth and embrace my own individuality. If this speaks to you or someone you know...I hope you look yourself in the mirror and make this your day 1 of a new transformation!

Try something new this week that you've been wanting to do...I dare you! At the bottom of my blog at www.closingdealsinredheels.com you can subscribe or just comment. I love feedback and look forward to hearing what your "risk" is and the outcome!
